So do you just plan to run at the right time? Have taken down 4, always get the same feeling once your halfway with the sledge. Debris field should be 3 times width and 2 times height. It should fall a few seconds after the entire row of staves are out. Run a heavy, long cable through the 2 and start pulling the rest of the staves out. count back from that block to one past from center on each side. To take them down, find the direction you want it to fall and the stave that corresponds with that direction. Once down, torch the bands in two, pull them out, then use a loader to scoop up the rubble. With 3 guys, we could have one down and cleaned up in 3 hours. Frozen, level ground is your friend in clean-up. Ideally dig a hole next next to them with an excavator and drop them in the hole and cover them. 2 guys and a front end loader will take several days with ones that big. There’s a video somewhere on YouTube.ĭebry field will be huge and will take some time. I’d like to try another one to see if I can do it faster than how we did it. Yes fell exactly where we wanted it to, other silo was full so if something was to hit it it wouldn't knock a block out of it. It's hard to tell but looked like it fell more to the right than I would have expected from what it appeared. ![]() Took one down a few years ago, the bands will help hold it together Edited by andyn269 05:25 Posted 05:21 (#6576578 - in reply to #6576483) Subject: RE: knocking a stave silo down Posted 23:28 (#6576521 - in reply to #6576483) Subject: RE: knocking a stave silo down Posted 23:00 (#6576488 - in reply to #6576483) Subject: RE: knocking a stave silo downĬheck out you tube. ![]() I have some other building I want to make sure and not hit. Has anybody brought a concrete stave silo down? I have 2 of them next to a barn that I want to take down and wondering how large the debris field will be.
